The Reprezent competition by Prima Danse took place last weekend at Place Bell in Laval, and the competitive dance teams of Dance Mode-Action shone on stage. Several awards were won by members of the DMA teams.
Special mention for her interpretation and musicality
Emma Samson won first place with a score of 92.83% among eight participants in the Pre-Competitive category, Solo, 15 years old, in Contemporary, with a solo choreographed by her coach Amélie Larrivée. The judges also gave a special mention to Emma for her interpretation and musicality.
The success of Salomé Dagenais in contemporary solo with choreography by Clara Oliver
Salomé Dagenais won first place with a score of 93.53% among six participants in the Competitive category, Contemporary, ages 13-15, with a solo choreographed by her coach Clara Oliver.
Maeva Morier participated in her first "tie" in a dance battle
Maeva Morier, the ambassador of DMA's Dance-Studies program, finished in sixth place out of eleven participants in the Competitive category with her Freestyle Solo, scoring 90.89%. She also participated in the Reprezent battle where she had her first tie in her career in this type of competition.
The resilience of the Beauteez team in the face of a major challenge.
The Beauteez team finished second out of twelve contemporary dance teams in the Pre-Competitive category, Small Group, ages 13-15, with a special mention from the judges and a score of 93.89%, just under 1% from first place. Samantha Harvey, the coach and choreographer of the team, highlighted their resilience in the face of this major challenge.
Our two hip-hop teams were among the top three scores on Saturday afternoon.
The YoungSteez team also won second place with a score of 82.13% in the Pre-Competitive category, Street Dance, ages 13-15, among ten participants. The judges also gave them a special mention, along with the third highest score of the Saturday afternoon. The coach and choreographer, Andy Rakotoarison, was proud of their performance.
The MegaCrew DMA claimed first place with a score of 85.39% among four crews in the Pre-Competitive category, Production, ages 13-15, with a special mention and the highest score of the Saturday afternoon. They also received an invitation to the Showcase. Choreographers and coaches France Dionne, Jade Da Ponte, Camille Penafiel, and Vannyda Mom were thrilled with this victory.
NewBreez won first place in the Novice category in Street-Jazz/Funky
Finally, the children's dance team from Danse Mode-Action, NewBreez, "coached" and choreographed by Liette Dionne, won first place with a score of 92.66% among four teams in the Novice category of Street-Jazz/Funky, ages 10-12, with a special mention from the judges.
Overall, the dance teams from Danse Mode-Action achieved great success at the Prima Danse Reprezent competition, with numerous awards and outstanding stage performances. All the coaches and choreographers were proud of their students and are eagerly looking forward to the next competition to continue having fun in the world of competitive dance.
